Maths + Boundary = Success That sums it up!

At Boundary, our Mathematicians have had a busy couple of weeks learning lots of new skills.

Reception children have been using ten frames to support counting and matching quantities to 10.  They have also been matching objects to numerals up to 10.

In Key Stage One, Year One took their learning outside and created part-whole models to support their understanding of how numbers up to 10 can be partitioned in different ways.  They also had great fun creating 3-D shapes using cocktails sticks and marshmallows. Yum!

Year Two have been using place value mats to support the addition and subtraction of 2-digit numbers and they have also been applying number bonds to 20 whilst solving a pyramid puzzle.

The focus in Key Stage Two has been on multiplication and division.  Year Three have been creating arrays from peg boards and cubes to model multiplication.

Year Four have been learning the long multiplication method in order to multiply larger numbers.  They have also been using their understanding of multiplication to reason.

In Year Five, pupils have been using place value charts to support their understanding of multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.

Finally, Year Six have been applying their multiplication and division knowledge to solve Tarsia puzzles.

All in all, some marvellous Maths taking place across school. Well done Team Boundary!
