Cedar is a specialist SEMH Provision for children with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP). We have a clear behaviour hierarchy to support pupils to make positive behaviour choices. When talking about behaviour, we always refer to the Cedar Qualities; caring, effort, development, ambition and resilience.

Our environment includes a large classroom split into two zones, a fully equipped sensory room, two breakout spaces, an outdoor areas and we have regular accessing to Boundary’s Forest School.

We lead a wide range of interventions that include anger management, speech and language, zones of regulation curriculum, Lego Therapy, play therapy, resilience building, self-regulation, mindfulness and growth mindset.

All pupils who attend Cedar are part of the wider Boundary family. Where appropriate, we participate in whole school events such as weekly assemblies, word book day, charity and fundraising events, school fairs etc.

Our Ethos

Pupils need to be encouraged to make ‘good choices’ and to manage their own behaviour whilst feeling good for doing so.

We aim to develop a consistent approach to behaviour management, rewards and sanctions in order to foster ‘success every day’ for all of our pupils.

We also strongly believe in the six principles of nurture and these underpin what we do. The six principles of nurture are:

  1. Children’s learning is understood developmentally
  2. The classroom offers a safe base
  3. The importance of nurture for the development of wellbeing
  4. Language is a vital means of communication
  5. All behaviour is communication
  6. The importance of transition in children’s lives
