Phased re-opening of School – Notification of Child attendance

As you may be aware, the Government have instructed schools to reopen for children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. At Boundary, we have been working hard to plan and risk assess how we are going to do this using the DfE guidance.

It is important to note that whatever the plan is, school life is going to be very different and before you make the decision about sending your child/ren back, we want to make you aware of some of the measures we are going to put in place:

• School may be run on a part-time rota, so your child/ren may not be back full-time.
• There will be limited spaces available in each year group and we will have a ‘safe number’ limit.
• Drop off and collection times will be staggered and social distancing will be expected at all times.
• Children must arrive with only one adult.
• Children will have their temperature read before they enter school and will be asked to wash their hands immediately.
• Regular handwashing and sanitising will take place.
• No items will be allowed to be brought into school or taken home from school.
• Children will be taught in small groups and may not be taught by their current class teacher or teaching assistant.
• Children will work in one classroom only, with the same adults each day. This will be their ‘bubble’ and they will not interact with any other children outside of this bubble.
• Parent access to the school office will be limited.
• Each group will be allocated their own toilet and sink to use.
• Tape will be use to section areas within the playground, classrooms and in the corridors.
• Any break times or outdoor learning will be staggered.
• Rooms will be ventilated as much as possible.
• Resources, desks and equipment will be washed/sanitised regularly.
• Children do not need to wear their school uniform at this time but we ask that they do wear newly washed and clean clothes each day
• Staff may wear PPE – masks/visors.

Please note, we will do everything we can to ensure social distancing, however as you know with children and in particular young children, the Government recognises that Schools cannot guarantee it.

These new rules and routines seem harsh, but they are necessary. The health and safety of the pupils and the school staff is our top priority. We can say that as ever, our amazing staff will make the return to school, as friendly as possible ease the children back into school to support their wellbeing.

Please note, parents/carers will not be fined if they choose not to send their children into school. Home-learning will continue to be supported by our teachers.

Please, take your time and have think. We then ask politely, if the parents/carers of children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 complete this questionnaire by 4pm, Thursday 21st May to inform us of your decision.

The ‘key worker’ provision which has been in place since 23rd March will continue.

Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
